Liang Zhenpu is the only student of Dong Haichuan to be buried next to his tomb.
It was during this period in 1877 that he became a direct disciple of Baguazhang creator Dong Haichuan.
Most, if not all, existing schools of Baguazhang place Dong Haichuan at the beginning of their lineage.
Dong Haichuan was known to have only accepted Baguazhang students who were already skilled in some other style of martial art.
After his death, he was the second person to be buried next to Dong Haichuan after Liang Zhenpu in Wanan Public Cemetery.
In 1930, following in his teacher Yin Fu's footsteps he erected in 1930 a third commemorative stele on Dong Haichuan's gravesite.
By the late 19th century, Baguazhang had become a well-known fighting style in Beijing and northern China, and Dong Haichuan and his students became famous.
"' Liang Style Baguazhang "'is the style of Baguazhang descended from Liang Zhenpu, the youngest disciple of Baguazhang's founder, Dong Haichuan.
He had the fortune of not only learning from Dong Haichuan but also from Dong's other students including Cheng Tinghua, Yin Fu, Shi Jidong, and Liu Fengchun.
"' Dong Haichuan "'( 13 October 1797 or 1813 25 October 1882 ) is regarded as a skillful martial artist and is widely credited to be the founder of Baguazhang.
